Three visions, one shared reality: The spatial computing exhibition at AMNC26

The traditional gallery model is fundamentally broken: passive viewing often leads to disconnected audiences and dead dwell time. At the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC26), Augmento completely rewrote this paradigm.

By powering three vastly different artistic visions through a single, unified spatial computing engine, the boundary between the physical room and the digital canvas was erased.

Watch this compilation showing how Augmento brings Foshan Tales, Liquid Universe Portal, and MOMENTUM to life in real time.

Exhibit 01: Cultural permanence in a digital age

The Artwork: Foshan Tales by Adalberto Lonardi

The Concept: Bridging ancient heritage with modern spatial computing.

Conceived as a dialogue between Italian architectural expression and traditional Chinese heritage, Foshan Tales utilizes the visual language of stained-glass cathedrals. The physical steel and glass structure acts dynamically with its environment. By day, natural light casts vibrant, coloured shadows over the visitors. By night, internal illumination turns the structure into a glowing lantern, symbolizing guidance and reunion.

When users scan the physical structure using the dedicated iPad application, the glass becomes a digital gateway. Attendees can actively uncover the narratives behind the four glass mosaics: the Chinese Tea Ceremony, Cantonese Opera, the Dragon Boat Race, and the Lion Dance.

Exhibit 02: Fluid realities and Eastern philosophy

The Artwork: Liquid Universe Portal by Yoichi Ochiai

The Concept: Dissolving the boundaries of existence.

Heavily rooted in Zhuangzi’s "butterfly dream" paradox, this installation challenges the definitive line between the dreamer and the dream. Ochiai’s vision renders as a massive, fluid 3D spatial asset that tracks flawlessly in the center of the physical room.

The environment is in a state of constant transformation. Viewers watch as liquid crystal textures solidify into mineral states before dissolving completely. It is an exploration of interdependence, proving that digital sculptures do not need to be static to hold incredible weight.

Exhibit 03: The passage from intention to action

The Artwork: MOMENTUM by Victoria Fard

The Concept: Translating cultural symbolism into an embodied journey.

Created in partnership with the World Economic Forum and Augmento, MOMENTUM is a living digital landscape inspired by the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse. Guided by the element of fire, its vibrant red palette embodies passion, courage, and the driving force of transformation itself.

Through the dedicated iPad application, visitors enter a dynamic environment inhabited by FLORIS, which are algorithmically generated floral forms that grow and evolve over time. The work is structured as a spatial and perceptual progression, moving from a moment of stillness in an intimate garden to a vast plain where wild horses run with energy.

Participants are not only viewers: they are part of the story. The artwork invites users to actively step into the environment, choosing specific elements and placing them into their surroundings. Ultimately, MOMENTUM serves as a mediation between intention and action, reflecting a narrative of renewal and collective advancement.

The architecture of immersion

To execute three distinct visions flawlessly at a global event, reliance on standard web browsers was impossible.

To guarantee real-scale rendering accuracy and absolute tracking stability, Augmento deployed these experiences exclusively through a custom Augmento iPad application. This native software approach provided the technological backbone for the entire exhibition:

  • Seamless synchronization: During a dedicated Hub session, 20 IT-provided iPads were distributed at once, allowing attendees to experience heavy, real-time 3D rendering simultaneously without lag.

  • Accessible interfaces: Recognizing the global nature of AMNC26, the application included a frictionless bilingual toggle, allowing users to switch the entire narrative interface between English (EN) and Chinese (中文).

By providing the ultimate canvas for these artists, Augmento proved that technology is no longer just a viewing tool: it is the medium itself.
