8th Wall
Your 8th Wall experience goes dark on 28 February 2027.
If it was built for a real-world moment, we rebuild it on Augmento. It comes back measuring people, not scans.

What changed
The platform closed. Hosting is next.
28 February 2026
Platform access and the export window closed
Projects that were not exported are locked and cannot be edited.
28 February 2027
Hosting ends
Experiences hosted on 8th Wall stop loading, and the QR codes and links that point to them lead nowhere.
8thwall.org
The engine is open source
It is free, but it comes with no hosting, no support, no SLA and no vendor to sign with. That rarely passes enterprise procurement.
Who we take on
We only take on projects where our platform fits.
Augmento is built for real places and real crowds, and we take on a limited number of rebuilds each month.
We take on
- Activations at live events, festivals and venues
- Sponsor and brand campaigns in physical places: packaging, posters, stores and streets
- Location-based hunts, trails and collection games
- Exhibitions for museums, galleries and art fairs
- Projects from brands, agencies, events, venues, rights holders, museums, galleries, art fairs, cities and destinations
We do not take on
- Product visualization, try-on or configurators
- Face filters or selfie effects on their own
- Training, education or industrial use
- Anything with no physical location, used only at home or online
- Projects from freelancers or individuals
The rebuild
What you get on Augmento
Augmento replaces impressions with people. Verified, opted-in, and yours to keep.
We rebuild rather than port your code, and reuse your 3D assets and creative where the formats allow.
No app, no download
People join with an App Clip on iPhone, a QR code, an NFC tag or a link.
Geolocated rewards and games
Rewards, quizzes, mini games and collectibles, placed on the map where your crowd is.
Verified presence
Each check-in is a real person, at a real place, at a real time.
First-party data you keep
People opt in, with consent per channel. The emails, names and answers they share belong to you.
Live dashboard and sponsor reports
See activity as it happens, with daily reports for your sponsors.
A company to contract with
A named company on the contract, with hosting and support included under the license.

Questions
What people ask before a rebuild
Is 8th Wall gone?
No. The engine is open source at 8thwall.org. What goes away is the hosted service: platform access closed on 28 February 2026 and hosting ends on 28 February 2027. The open-source engine is free, but it comes with no hosting, no support, no SLA and no vendor to sign with.
Can you move my project as is?
No. We rebuild it on Augmento rather than port the code, and reuse your 3D assets and creative where the formats allow. The new build is made for the place and the people in it, so it verifies presence and collects opted-in data from the start.
What if I missed the export window?
A locked project cannot be exported, which is why we rebuild from your assets and your brief rather than from the original code. If the experience still loads, we can also see how it works today.
What does it cost?
It depends on the scope. We quote after the review call, once we know what the rebuild involves.
Who owns the data?
You do. People opt in, with consent per channel, and you can export the data on request.
